Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) Awards Contracts for Port Expansion

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has awarded several contracts for port development projects to bolster maritime infrastructure and enhance regional connectivity.

Following a competitive bidding process, contracts were awarded to firms that submitted the lowest calculated and responsive bids. Among the major projects is the Gamao Port Development Project in Tingloy, Batangas, which was awarded to Great Swiss Metal Builders Corp. for ₱250.16 Million. The bidding process saw participation from WTG Construction and Development Corp., Luzviminda Engineering, and Sunwest Inc. The PPA's Bids and Awards Committee conducted a thorough evaluation of technical and financial proposals before finalizing the award. The Gamao Port project is anticipated to enhance port capacity in Batangas.

Mamsar Construction and Industrial Corp. successfully secured contracts for two projects: the Bataraza Port Expansion Project in Palawan, valued at  ₱126.26 Million, and the Isabela Port Improvement and Rehabilitation Project in Basilan, amounting  ₱544.81 Million.

The Tagbilaran Port Expansion Project in Bohol was awarded to BNR Construction and Development Corp. for ₱632.29 million. Additionally, Jarzoe Builders Inc. received a contract worth ₱394.47 million for the construction and offshore installation of aids to marine navigation at various ports in Bohol, including Tagbilaran, Loon, Tubigon, Clarin, Talibon, and Albuquerque.

According to the PPA, all contracts were awarded in accordance with the 2016 Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of RA 9184. These projects are part of the government's Bagong Pilipinas agenda, aimed at enhancing port infrastructure to support economic growth, improve connectivity, and bolster the country's maritime trade capacity.
